Working Group on Glycomics Data(base) Standards

The Working Group on Glycomics Data(base) Standards is an international group of experts working on the standardizsation of metadata in glycomics databases. The group was formed at the  Workshop on Analytic and Bioinformatic Glycomics in April 2009.

Tasks

  1. Establish priorities for the inclusion of meta-data into databases.
  2. Investigate and propose vocabularies for acquiring and populating databases with meta-data. This should include an assessment of the usefulness of vocabularies already implemented by other databases. Adopt or adapt as necessary.
  3. Contact developers of other databases to work toward interoperability by use of common vocabularies and ontologies.
  4. Work with CFG bioinformatic resources to determine best practices for facilitating the development of new inquiry tools by distributed groups of bioinformaticists.
  5. Determine availability of resources for implementing proposals and for insuring the long-term existence of glyco databases.

Our current projects

Project 1: Cross referencing of databases

Project 2: Data exchange between databases
